A Gift of Love For You
As we enter this holiday season, and our thoughts are turned toward the manger scene and Jesus birth, I encourage each of us to remember the reason why He was sent to the world, to us. Pure and simple, out of God's deep love for us!
"And we know and believe the love God cherishes for us. God is love, and he who dwells and continues in love dwells and continues in God, and God dwells and continues in him. In this union, love is brought to completion and attains perfection with us, that we may have confidence for the day of judgment (with assurance and boldness to face Him), because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love, but full-grown, complete and perfect love turns fear out of doors and expels every trace of terror." I John 4:16-18 "For whatever is born of God IS victorious over the world; and this is the victory that conquers the world, even our faith." I John 5:4
I've witnessed an increase of knowledge to the body of Christ -- the Church of the Living God. The teachings are of deeper truths, the preaching of greater power and prophecies of greater measure. This is the fruit of the increased anointing that the Lord told us He was bringing to His people, several years ago. We truly are in the midst of the outpouring of His Spirit and are going forward in the strength and power that He has imparted unto us. It is my belief that we are coming into a historical time, where the necessity to walk in the fullness of God will become greater and greater, as the intensity of the evil forces try to take us away from our position of victory. There is a force coming upon the earth that will absolutely destroy us if we do not know how to trust in and experience God's love.
Proverbs 29:18 is a warning from our Father, to us, His children. "My people perish for a lack of knowledge." Growing in knowledge is good when it is the knowledge revealed by the Holy Spirit as we sit and feast on His Word, and our minds are renewed as we meditate on His Word. But I believe we must increase in a specific area of knowledge, one that when we comprehend and walk in its fullness, we will have the knowledge that is essential to save our very lives from the coming destruction upon this world. The one piece of knowledge that shadows all other. The one truth that will keep us from perishing, no matter what battle we face. This knowledge that is so vital to our full salvation is this: GOD LOVES US!
To hear this is nothing new. In fact many of us have heard it most of our lives. But stop for a minute, and let the power of that statement sink in. God doesn't just love the whole world of people -- His love goes way beyond that. God loves you. He knows you. He cares about you. He wants you to receive the fullness of His love. To trust in His love. To have faith in the all encompassing power of God's love to give us eternal life, to lead and guide us and to keep us in health, to prosper us in every area of need.
"Who shall ever separate us from Christ's love? Shall suffering and affliction and tribulation? Or calamity and distress? Or persecutions or hunger or destitution or peril or sword?...Yet amid all these things we are more than conquerors and gain a surpassing victory through Him Who loved us. For I am persuaded beyond doubt that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities, nor things impending and threatening nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:35-39
THE LOVE FLOW
There is nothing that can ever stop the love flow from God!! Love flows from His throne constantly, whether we are expecting it, or asking for it or deserving of it. God's love is full of His mercy -- of undeserved benefits. It is always there, never ceasing, never running out, never held back. Why then, do we not see the manifestation of it in greater measure in our daily lives? I believe it is because we have a difficult time believing that God could love us. It is because we do not believe it and we therefore do not receive it. Because we know ourselves really well, and know of our sins and failures, we have often times become so sin conscious that the righteousness of God seems too good to be true! To have faith in God, is to expect His help, to have confidence in Him and in the promises of His Word to let His love flow to us and saturate us.
God loves us. He gave His best gift to us because of His great love. To trust that love is to accept His divine protection, divine provision, divine understanding and divine intervention. To truly believe that God loves us means to eradicate fear -- no more fear of failing -- no more fear of man -- no more fear of death. To really believe that His love is so great that He will move mountains to get the blessings to us, if we will only expect and receive all that He has promised and provided for us. Nothing can separate us from the love of God. No matter how we act or respond, He will continue to send forth His love flow.
Most of us think we have faith in God. Most of us consider ourselves to be believers. For many of us, our believing ended with our confession that Jesus is the Son of God. We need to go deeper into the goodness of God and allow Him to shower us with blessings -- blessings like peace for our minds, healing for our bodies, financial assistance to meet our every need, joy for our souls, families that are united in love and favor, business success, wisdom and rest. These are things we probably are asking, through prayer, from the Lord. The Lord wants us to change the nature of our hearts though. We ask, but do we expect the answer? We ask, but are we prepared to receive the answer? We ask, but are we willing to be obedient to His Word? We ask, but are we submitted and yielded to His Spirit? Do we really want the fullness of God? Or do we just want the material and physical benefits?
"Lean on, trust in and be confident in the Lord WITH ALL YOUR HEART AND MIND and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In ALL your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths." Proverbs 3:5-6
"Happy, blessed, fortunate and to be envied is the man who finds skillful and godly Wisdom, and the man who gets understanding (drawing it forth from God's Word and life's experiences), for the gaining of it is better than the gaining of silver and the profit of it is better than fine gold." Proverbs 3:13-14
To sit down and spend some time meditating in Proverbs is a good place to start learning about God's love and His plan to heap upon you and your life, incredible blessings. To trust and have confidence in the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Wisdom is the wealth above all wealth. There is nothing more desirable than wisdom, because with wisdom comes all the other blessings!! Wise Solomon, writing under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, goes on to expound on the benefits of gaining wisdom:
"You will walk in your way securely and in confident trust...when you lie down, you shall not be afraid; ...you will not be afraid of sudden terror or panic, nor of the stormy blast or the storm and ruin...For the Lord shall be your confidence, firm and strong, and shall keep you." Proverbs 3:22-26
These are truths from God's word that will keep us and provide for us in the coming days. We must believe the promises of His word, if we are to stand against the sudden terror -- the storm and the ruin.
What is the requirement for receiving wisdom? To seek God. Diligently seek Him -- seek Him with all your heart -- with all your mind -- with all your soul. Seek Him and you shall find Him. To find Him is to find wisdom. The greatest wisdom that you can obtain, is that God loves you and God desires to bless you. To gain wisdom is to gain the provisions and blessings of God. Notice that the blessings of God are not just wealth and financial riches. These are a necessary part -- but the true blessings of being wise are the rest and confidence that God is love -- that nothing can separate us from that great love -- and that He will do whatever it takes to protect you, to provide for you, and to take care of you.
Do we believe God's Word? What if our prayers are not answered for a week? Do we still believe we receive even when the answer hasn't come in our time frame? What if our prayers are not answered for a month -- or two? Do we give up? Do we reason out that God must not have wanted us to have it? Do we give up and settle for less because the answer didn't appear quickly? To believe that God loves us -- truly loves us -- truly wants only good for our lives -- is to keep on believing even when every fiber of our being is yelling at us to "give it up"! Believing is what faith is all about. Develop your faith in God, by getting to know Him more and more. Learn to trust Him. Trust Him to do all that He said He would do. I know people who know the scriptures inside and out and have entire books memorized -- yet they don't believe that what they read is true. They believe that God can do these things, but they don't believe that He wants to or will perform for them. In short, they don't believe His love or His mercy. And, they will perish, for a lack of this knowledge. They are God's people, and they will go to heaven, but they will not live life in the success that God desired and prepared for them, because they never grasped hold of the truth.
Sadly, many of us give up just because there is no way on earth for the answer to come. And this is exactly where God specializes -- He does what is impossible with man. That's what makes Him God! When there is no earthly way, we keep believing and expecting and as long as our prayer lines up with the promises in God's Word, He will do everything possible to put us in the position to receive it! This usually means He has to deal with us first -- our motives -- our plans etc. He has to prepare us for the answer so when the answer comes it doesn't get us into trouble. Thank God, I have not had some of my prayers answered!! So many times I thought I knew what was best for me only to have the Lord show me that what I had prayed and was believing for was not His highest and best, for me! (To humble ones self and ask that He not answer foolish prayers that are out of His will for our lives, is good protection!) Every thing that the Lord does for us is out of His love for us. He teaches us because of this love. He heals us because of this love. He provides for us because of this love.
The benefits of being God's child are enormous! As I said before, they are being poured out to us in a constant flow of His love. If we aren't walking in the fullness of them, it is because of our doubts of His love. No one can merit or earn this matchless love. We will never be good enough in and of our own human frailties. Our intercessor -- the one who stands on our behalf, before the Father, tells the Father of our righteousness -- not our sinfulness. It is through Jesus -- and the very reason why our Father sent Him to the earth, that we have the right to take our place as His sons and daughters and call out, "Abba, Father!" and know that He hears us. And answers us with His love. Believe in the price that Jesus paid -- not only for our sins -- but that we might live in the abundance of all that His life, His death, His blood and His resurrection bought for us. Jesus came that we might live under grace -- unmerited, unearned favors from God. Accept the grace. Believe in His mercy and get the flow of love opened in your life today!
No matter what you might be facing, even in this month of 'holiday cheer', remember to relax and remind yourself daily, of His great love and His tender mercies that never stop flowing towards you. Believe in this love that surpasses any love you have ever experienced before. God will never love you more than when He loved you so much that He sent His Son to you. Let Jesus be more real in your life from this moment on. Depend on His love. Let His presence be a very real part of your life everyday. He will never, never let you down. Merry Christmas!
