I am writing what may seem to be a peculiar letter to you and I assure you, that I write it with hesitancy. Please read the entire letter, even if you do not agree with what it says. I am writing what I feel is a very timely message from the Lord in regards to why we are not seeing more financial fruit and prosperity in our ministries. So really, this is a very exciting topic and if you will bear with me, I believe it can revolutionize your life.
First of all, I am a teacher of God's Word. I have been operating in the anointing of this call for over 30 years. My motive is always that the people who sit under this teaching ministry keep growing in spiritual knowledge and insight, clearly understanding the difference between right and wrong; and to be inwardly clean so that no one is able to criticize you and the position you hold in this Body of Christ.
The Lord has brought me into this ministry as a defender of the truth. I praise God for the work of the Holy Spirit in my life, Who is always helping me. I thank God for your prayers as well.
"I am still not all I should be but I am bringing all my energies to bear on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I strain to reach the end of the race and receive the prize for which God is calling us up to heaven because of what Christ Jesus did for us. I hope all of you who are mature Christians will see eye-to-eye with me on these things, and if you disagree on some point, I believe that God will make it plain to you--if you fully obey the truth you have." Philippians 3:13-15
I think we all are mature enough to know that we cannot pick and choose which scriptures we like and agree with only some of them. We know that we must accept the whole counsel of God and obey His Word. We lean not to our own way of reasoning things out. There are never, ever any excuses for disobeying God's Word.
The world's economic system is completely crazy--and its probably going to get a whole lot worse. 99% of the prayer requests that I receive have to do with the topic of money--the lack of it. There are very legitimate needs all around this world, that are not being met, even though God has a plan in place. So we know that it is not God Who is withholding the money we all need--money to pay for food, clothing, education, shelter and transportation. No matter where you live in this world, you are probably experiencing financial needs that are way beyond your ability to meet.
I feel this is why the Lord wants me to teach on the subject of giving. Ministers must see the reality of being able to make a living from the people that they minister to. This is the plan of God and the way that He intended us to live. Galatians 6:6 says "contribute to the support of your teachers."
It has always been God's way and will for people to make a living from the occupation they work. For those of us in full-time ministry, this means of course, that we make a living from the preaching of the Gospel. It's very clear that those who do not work should not be fed--and those who work must be fed.
Since most of my internet congregation live in third-world countries, I have never expected to see the reality of Galatians 6:6 operating in my life and ministry. And truthfully, in 14 years, I have received less than one-hundred dollars from overseas. That is really, really poor wages! Obviously I have not made a living by ministering to you.
I do not say this to your shame or in rebuke. Absolutely not! I have never dreamed of asking you for money to contribute to my support. Instead, whenever possible, I have given to YOUR ministries. In this same amount of time, I have personally given nearly Seventy-Five Thousand dollars to overseas ministry works. I do not say this to boast, but rather, to point out how messed up the modern day Church of Jesus Christ has become.
We tend to operate like the rest of the world system. The 'rich' give to the 'poor'. Yet, how absolutely contrary this is to God's Word. He says that we are all equal--that we are all rich--that we all have equal access to His grace of prosperity. But instead of believing what His Word tells us, we have reacted and responded by needs, appeals and things in the natural. We've allowed ourselves to be moved by what we see, hear and feel--rather than by the Word of God. Brothers and sisters, this should not be!
I have repented for the hindrance I am responsible for, in not expecting support from the people that I minister to! I will not stop my giving to the poor. I will continue to listen to God and give what He tells me to give, to whom He tells me to give it to. But I am extending my faith to believe that I will see Galatians 6:6 operating in my life, as people contribute to my support.
What has happened is that my family and I have not been able to make a living from this ministry that we have devoted our lives to. We serve the Body of Christ, praying constantly, providing fresh bread of Life, giving cups of cold water in His Name. And God is pleased with what we do. But it is His will and desire for us to be increased--not so we can be rich--but so we have MORE to give to the poor!
The second part of Galatians chapter 6 explains that we only reap what we sow. Remember now, this is in regards to giving to the support of your teachers. So, if we obey God and sow to our teachers, we will reap from others who will contribute to our living expenses.
As everything of God is, this is an act of obedience that requires faith. Why would God ask you people who are living in poverty, to give to your teacher who perhaps has a better quality of life? Because He wants you to understand the principle of obedience. We only will reap what we sow.
So, if the people that you are ministering to are not contributing to your support--if you are thinking that they are too poor and if you are not expecting to see Galatians 6:6 operate in your life, then I encourage you to take this scripture and this teaching to the Lord in prayer. And teach it to your people!
A word of caution: the bible does not say "give to everyone who is teaching you". Especially in this electronic age where we can receive so much teaching, it would be difficult to give to every single teaching ministry. Here is how I fulfill this directive from God: If I am reading or listening to a teacher and it blesses me, then I will always give something to that teacher. If I am being taught and it is encouraging me, edifying me and causing me to go deeper in my relationship with God, then I want to give to help support that minister.
If I listen to a teacher and it does nothing to help me, then I do not contribute to their support. And I NEVER contribute because someone makes a need known and asks for my money. God says that we are to make our needs known to Him. He also says that He moves on the hearts of men and causes them to give to me. So I must honor God and live purposely to obey Him in the area of giving.
I used to give to ministries that I thought needed my money. Even if I was very blessed by a teacher--if that teacher had money--I reasoned it out that I did not need to give anything to them. I was always looking for 'poor' ministries that I could help, because their need was greater. So I was giving based on need, rather than obedience to God's way.
Here is a gospel truth: My obeying God's Word is for my blessing--more than it is to bless someone else. God desires that you and I prosper... He has said that He supplies for all our need according to His riches in glory. This is one way that God supplies for our needs to be met. As we give, we get.
I do not desire a gift, but I desire fruit that may abound to your account. I am writing this letter out of sincere love and with the utmost desire to see you making a living from the ministry, because people you are ministering to are contributing to your support!
Obviously God has been supplying for my needs during all these years of not seeing His Word manifested in my life in this area of being supported by those who are taught by me! So this letter is not an attempt for me to take your money! But it is an appeal for you to obey Galatians 6:6 so that the windows of heaven will be opened over your lives! As you sow, (obedience to Galatians 6:6) so too you will reap the rewards of Galatians 6:6 and the people you teach will start contributing to your support as well. Its a principle that will work because God, in His divine wisdom, set it before us to be obeyed.
I want to remind you of the story of the widows mite, as Jesus told it. It is not the amount you give, but it is the obedience that counts with God. This is not about tithing. This is about sharing what little or much you have, with your teacher(s), contributing to their support, as the Spirit of the Lord leads you.
I am including my mailing address. If the teachings that I have given to you have blessed you -- if this teaching blesses you -- then for your own sake, please honor God and obey His instruction and give toward my support. Please do not feel bound to try and 'make up' for the past--even if you've sat under my teaching ministry for 10 years, do not feel compelled to give to me for all the time past. Forget the past! Focus on today. And hold fast to the Word of God that tells you NEVER to give under compulsion--never out of guilt--never out of condemnation. God loves a CHEERFUL giver!
If you can give cheerfully and in response to the ministry of God's Holy Spirit, then I will receive your gift as a holy thing and together we will bring honor to God.
I submit myself to you, as God's child in service to you,
