There is an American expression that says "one is the loneliest number". Seemingly this would be true, but as the Holy Spirit began to teach me this is what He said. "Alone" is the only definition of loneliness. A person may be alone even in the middle of a crowd of people. Yet even if there were just one individual, it does not make that one alone or lonely. Feeling alone is a painful emotion that too many people are experiencing, especially when facing a crisis. The scripture says "It is not good for man to be alone." The reason? When man is all alone he feels vulnerable, isolated and weak. Many believers throughout the world today feel very alone. I have talked to many Pastors and Christian leaders who feel totally alone even though they oversee large groups of people. I recently read a statistic that stated 87% of all Pastors feel 'burnt out'. If this describes your feelings, then read on, for here is a word from the Lord that will surely ignite His Spirit inside you again!

Remember Elijah from the Old Testament, when he had gathered all the nation of Israel around him, challenging the prophets of Baal for a 'showdown' between the God of Israel and the god of Baal? Immediately after this supernatural display of God's glory and might, Elijah found himself running away in fear and alone in the wilderness. He cried out to God and asked to die. His reason was that he felt he was the only one who served God. When a person feels alone they can be overcome with thoughts of despair and hopelessness.

It is written in Eccl 4:8-12 "There was a man all alone; he had neither son nor brother. There was no end to his toil, yet his eyes were not content with his wealth. "For whom am I toiling," he asked, "and why am I depriving myself of enjoyment?" This too is meaningless- a miserable business! Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up! Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken." (NIV)

Probably the biggest reason for people to feel alone is that their ability to trust others has been destroyed. Past rejection and betrayal leave a person's mind looking like a battlefield strewn with broken promises, dreams lost and hopes destroyed. God has created us to want and need one another. If a person gets through life with 3 or 4 loyal, trustworthy and safe friends they have lived life to its fullest. A friend really is the highest earthly treasure we have. Obviously this is why satan's strategy is to keep people feeling alone and isolated. Robbed of rich relationships that leave individuals restless, miserable, helpless, cold and defenseless.

Jesus said "there is a friend closer than a brother." He said "I will never leave you nor forsake you." So today you may be without a true friend. Perhaps your brothers and sisters have separated themselves from you. Or maybe it was your spouse. Have your children walked away from their relationship with you? Or has your best friend betrayed you?

Let's get back to the number 'one' and see what God would say about you feeling all alone. Are you doomed to loneliness if you are the only 'one'? In these perilous times it is so important that you receive strength and courage to complete the work that God has destined for you to fulfill. May His grace impart knowledge through this teaching that will fill you to overflowing awareness that you are not alone!

John 10:38
"…have faith in what I do, in order that you may know and understand [clearly] that the Father is in Me, and I am in the Father [one with Him]." (Amp)

John 17:11
"I am no longer in the world; and yet they themselves are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, keep them in Your name, the name which You have given Me, that they may be one even as We are. "(NASU)

John 17:21
"…that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me. The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one; (NASU)

Romans 6:5
"For if we have become one with Him by sharing a death like His, we shall also be [one with Him in sharing] His resurrection [by a new life lived for God]."

1 Corinthians 6:17
"But he who unites himself with the Lord is one with him in spirit." (NIV)

Important truths are found in these scriptures especially for these end times. We read where Jesus knew where the source of His strength and ability came from … His unity with the Father. This was a spiritual truth that Jesus received by faith. Jesus knew what the Fathers intent, desire and requirements were and Jesus trusted this and used his faith to believe that it was true. Jesus spoke the will of the Father as He prayed that we would be one with each other, even as He and the Father were one. He also knew that the only way this world would know that Jesus was the redeemer of the world, was when the world saw that same oneness with God, as they saw in Jesus life. Clearly we are taught that we are One with Him, reigning in heavenly places with Him. His Spirit is in us. Our physical bodies house the very Spirit of God. We are at one with Him and we are told to be one with each other in the faith.

Aside from the importance of the world believing in Him, our faith must rest in this truth and fact. We are "one with Him". When this revelation is obtained, no matter who you are, where you are or what you are involved in, you are never alone. Never lonely, never weak, never down and out. Receiving by faith the truth of God's promise to you, that when you believe in Him and accept Him as your Lord, you are filled with His Spirit wherein we are no longer alone but "one with Him". When we acknowledge this truth in the face of perilous times we partake of the truths that we are secure, protected, helped, empowered, counseled and every need taken care of! True friends may not be found right now, but there is within you, one with you, that friend who is closer than a brother.

Rather than being alone like the man describes in Ecclesiastics we work for the benefit of the one inside. We share the beauty of His presence with the world around us. Bringing more brothers into His Kingdom. Doing the work and will of our precious Father. Standing strong and courageous in the face of all battles for we know that we are not alone, but standing united with and at one with Great God Jehovah!

There is no need for any of us to feel isolated and vulnerable. He has given you the greatest gift of love that you will ever receive but it's up to you to receive it. By faith, acknowledge what He has said and done. Don't listen to your emotions that 'feel' alone and left out. Let God arise and be glorified in and through you today. By grace, through faith, believe.

May you take these words to heart and meditate on them, searching the scriptures to judge the truths herein. Allowing the Holy Spirit to work truth in you, to the renewing of your mind. Rest for your soul. Have a light and easy week as you accomplish great things for His
